These were the horses, which changed the lives of the Native Americans living in or near the Great Plains. The name of the breed comes from the Spanish word "monstenco" meaning "wild" or "stray." This is a feral horse found now in the western United States. Pet classifieds is not the best place to look for horses and foals.
